In memory of Robert Bunsen: Walter Thiel holds the Robert Bunsen Lecture 2014

June 20, 2014

The German Bunsen Society for Physical Chemistry honors Prof. Walter Thiel, Director at the Max Planck Institut für Kohlenforschung, with the Robert Bunsen Lecture 2014. He will give a talk at the Philipps University Marburg on Friday, June 27th.

With the Robert Bunsen lecture, which is endowed with prize money of 1000 euro, the Bunsen Society decorates personalities that have promoted Physical Chemistry in a special way. Each awardee has the opportunity to give a talk at one of the universities, colleges or institutes where Robert Bunsen worked in Germany: Göttingen, Kassel, Marburg and Heidelberg.

Robert Bunsen, who lived from 1811 to 1899, was a German chemist who developed the spectral analysis. Thus chemical elements can be detected with high specificity. He also optimized the Bunsen burner which was therefore named after him.

The lecture by Walter Thiel will take place at the Philipps-University Marburg on Friday, June 27th, at 17:15 clock.
