In the afternoon of 15th and 16th December 2021, the 7th ORCA User Meeting will take place as an online event. This time, the meeting will focus on real-life applications and we will have plenty of space for you to present your own calculations and how you use ORCA to solve challenging problems. Keynote lectures will contain examples of the latest new ORCA features including several applications of ORCA in different fields. Participation is free of charge and if you want to present your own work (15 minute time slots) please send a one-page abstract to orca-cfp@kofo.mpg.de until November 15th. The workshop is intended for graduate students, PhD students and young scientists active in solid-state research (chemistry, physics), geosciences, crystallography and materials science. During the workshop, the following topics will be addressed: • Method development at large research facilities • New techniques • Career perspective for young graduates in academia, industry, public service and at large research facilities. The participants are encouraged to present their work as lightning talks. Individual problems will be discussed. [more]
Four female and six male researchers will receive the Heinz Maier-Leibnitz Prize this year, the top award for early career investigators in Germany. This was the result of a decision made by a selection committee appointed by the DFG and the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). Dr. Josep Cornellà from the MPI für Kohlenforschung is one of the prizewinners. [more]
