7th ORCA User Meeting - 15th / 16th of December 2021 "ORCA in action - showcase spectacular simulations"

In the afternoon of 15th and 16th December 2021, the 7th ORCA User Meeting will take place as an online event. This time, the meeting will focus on real-life applications and we will have plenty of space for you to present your own calculations and how you use ORCA to solve challenging problems. Keynote lectures will contain examples of the latest new ORCA features including several applications of ORCA in different fields. Participation is free of charge and if you want to present your own work (15 minute time slots) please send a one-page abstract to orca-cfp@kofo.mpg.de until November 15th. Nobel Symposium with the German Laureates 2021

On Tuesday, 7th of December, Ben List and Klaus Hasselmann (Nobel Prize in Physics) will receive the price in Berlin. At 14:00 there will be a talk show with the famous German Science Journalist Ranga Yogeshwar (in German). You can follow the show on YouTube. [more]
The Max-Planck-Institut für Kohlenforschung and the network of all family doctors of Mülheim are planning a common free vaccination appointment at the institute. Doors of the lecture hall building, Lembkestraße, open on Saturday, 27th of November, from 15:00 to 17:00. Participants do not need to arrange an individual appointment. The vaccinations (with Biontech Vaccine) will, of course, be offered by qualified medicinal personnel. But our new Nobel Laureate Prof. Benjamin List will be there on Saturday to welcome the participants. Please note: The offer is explicitly meant for people who are not vaccinated yet. Award Ceremony of Ernst Haage-Prizes 2020 & 2021

The National Ernst Haage Award for Chemistry 2021 goes to Dr. Max Martin Hansmann. Max Hansmann is a junior professor at the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Biology (Organic Chemistry) at Technische Universität Dortmund and has distinguished himself through excellent independent work and outstanding publications. The Ernst Haage Prize for Doctoral Students is awarded to Dr. Rebecca Gómez Castillo (Max Planck Institute for Chemical Energy Conversion).The Ernst Haage Foundation Trainee Award will be presented to Nina Bäumer (MPI CEC) and Paul Grote (Max-Planck-Institut für Kohlenforschung) for outstanding achievements.The award ceremony will take place on November 5, 2021, as a hybrid event at the Max-Planck-Institut für Kohlenforschung in Mülheim an der Ruhr, to which the award winners from 2020 are also invited.The event will be streamed online and registration is necessary. ORCA 5.0 Release

For the release of our popular ORCA quantum chemistry package version 5.0 there will be a webinar with an introduction by F. Neese, presentations by the authors and plenty of room for discussions and questions.
