Catalysis for the world – Professor Ben List explains on national public television how organocatalysis is revolutionising chemical synthesis

January 30, 2019

"Explain what you are doing so that anyone can understand it", this is the challenge experts have to meet on ARD talk on "ARD-alpha". In the broadcast, Professor Ben List from the Max-Planck-Institut für Kohlenforschung explained why life without catalysis is unthinkable and what impact his new organocatalysts have on the resource-saving and sustainable production of drugs, vitamins, dyes, fuels and materials. In his approximately 11-minute talk, the Leibniz Prize winner explains how his field of research developed, where small organic catalysts are already having a great impact today, and what challenges lie ahead for researchers in the production of drugs, for example.
