Stefan Benson (former PhD student in the group of A. Fürstner) is awarded the Otto-Hahn-Medal 2011 of the Max Planck Society.

 

The prize is intended to motivate gifted junior scientists to pursue a future university or research career.
Stefan Benson will be honoured for his work on the total synthesis of a structurally complex natural product, Spirastrellolide F, a phosphatase
inhibitor. This project highlighted the relevance of catalysis for the preparation of bioactive target compounds.
The medal will be awarded at the annual meeting of the Max Planck Society in Düsseldorf on June 13 2012.
