Jeddah is an important sea port in Saudi Arabia. It is also home of the King Abdulaziz University. Dr. Mario Barbatti and Daniele Fazzi, both scientists at the Max Planck Institut für Kohlenforschung, have now visited their colleagues at the Saudi-Arabian university, following an invitation by Prof. Rifaat Hilal. He is a Theorist, like Barbatti.

“We delivered a five-days training course on Molecular Structure and Dynamics”, says Mario Barbatti, Brasilian group leader at the Kohlenforschung. Students as well as professors participated in that course.

Barbatti is now planning a cooperation with Prof. Hilal. “We want to investigate photochemical processes in the atmosphese, especially those responsible for attacking the ozone layer.” Barbatti sees a good potential for an international exchange and discussion of new scientific ideas.
