Humboldt Rankings: Scientists from abroad like to conduct their research in Mülheim

Mülheim an der Ruhr. A recent ranking of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation shows how many scientists have come to Germany during the last five years with a grant of the foundation - and where they conducted their research.

In the ranking of non-university research institutions follows Mülheim an der Ruhr right after the cities of Berlin (represented twice), Potsdam, Mainz and Jülich – due to the Max Planck Institut für Kohlenforschung.

“Foreign researchers apparently choose the institution for their research stays not only on the basis of whether it is located in one of Germany’s largest cities”, says the president of the Humboldt Foundation, Helmut Schwarz. “This shows how much faith there is worldwide in the quality of science and research in Germany.”
