From the Ruhr Area to the UK: Dr. Roberto Rinaldi will become Senior Lecturer in London

Mülheim/London. Dr. Roberto Rinaldi, group leader in the department of Heterogeneous Catalysis at the Max Planck Institut für Kohlenforschung in Mülheim, will become Senior Lecturer at the highly renowned Imperial College in London/UK. In the QS World University Rankings of 2014, this university was recognized as second best institution.

Chemical Engineering

At the Imperial College Rinaldi will work in the department of Chemical Engineering. “Like in Mülheim, my research will be in the field of catalysis for conversion of biomass”, says the Sofja Kovalevskaja awardee.

Roberto Rinaldi, who joined the MPI für Kohlenforschung in 2007, has established reputation for his research on Lignin and Cellulose. In 2014, he was honored with the Willi Keim Prize of Dechema.

"I am grateful"

“I learned a lot in Mülheim. And I am grateful for all the opportunities given to me”, says the 36 year-old chemist. “But I am also really looking forward to my new position.”
