Alois Fürstner receives Windaus Medal

The Institute of Organic and Biomolecular Chemistry at the University of Göttingen awarded the Windaus Medal to Professor Dr. Alois Fürstner from the Max-Planck-Institut für Kohlenforschung. The prize honors his work in the field of natural products chemistry. The award ceremony took place on June 4, 2015 in the chemistry faculty of the University of Göttingen. Professor Dr. Lutz Ackermann from Göttingen delivered the honorific speech. After the award Professor Dr. Fürstner gave a lecture in remembrance of Adolf Windaus with the topic “Catalysis and natural products chemistry – a strong partnership”.


The Windaus Medal commemorates the chemist Adolf Windaus, who received the Nobel Prize for Chemistry in 1928 for his work on steroids and their relation to vitamins.
