December 19, 2019

It is a good tradition at the Max-Planck-Institut für Kohlenforschung that the best publication of a year by a young scientist is awarded. In the Institute's seminar at the end of the year, this excellent publication was presented in a lecture.

In the Institute's seminar on December 17, 2019, two young scientists were honored for the first time with the newly created "Thiel Award" in memory of the Emeritus Director, Prof. Dr. Walter Thiel, who passed away unexpectedly in August 2019.

The Thiel Award 2019 went to Dr. Amol Amrute from the Department of Heterogeneous Catalysis and Dr. Florian Berger (on the left side) from the Department of Organic Synthesis. The Managing Director, Prof. Dr. Tobias Ritter, took over the presentation of the awards.
