The institute wins over the advisory board

Committee once again gives the academic institution the highest marks

Every three years, a committee reviews the institute’s research, strategy, and facilities, provides input for further development—and confirms the high quality of the work being done at the Kohlenforschung.

Every three years, the scientific work at the Max Planck Institut für Kohlenforschung is put through its paces. Specifically, an independent body—the Scientific Advisory Board—scrutinizes the researchers’ work.

All institutes of the Max Planck Society have established an effective quality assurance process for scientific achievements through the Advisory Board system. These high-caliber Advisory Boards evaluate the quality and originality of the research. They assess whether an institute’s research strategy and resources align with its research questions and, where necessary, identify areas for development and change as well as potential for optimization.

Whether in the presentations, in various discussion panels, or during the poster session in the scientific departments: Once again, the scientists at the Max Planck Institute were able to convince the committee that excellent work is being done in Mülheim. “The regular evaluation by our Scientific Advisory Board is one of the most important events at the Institute,” says Prof. Frank Neese, Executive Director at the Institute. Through the exchange with the members of the Advisory Board, the Institute receives valuable input for its work in the coming years.
