Green Team
The Green Team at the institute was founded at the beginning of 2021 and aims to promote sustainability and environmental protection at the MPI für Kohlenforschung
The KOFO Green Team provides various impetus in the following areas: campus development, landscaping, waste separation and avoidance, energy saving, and sustainable mobility. Thanks to the efforts of the team and other colleagues, several more sustainable areas have been created on campus: an insect-friendly flower bed in front of the glassblowing workshop, a raised bed and insect hotel by the bike rack, and two new fruit trees in the cafeteria garden. Donated bikes have been collected, refurbished, and are now available to institute colleagues to borrow free of charge for climate-friendly journeys. In workshops, members of the Green Team show how insect-friendly habitats can be made and bicycles repaired.
Max Planck Sustainability Network - the sustainability network of the Max Planck Society
Sustainability groups at Max Planck Institutes develop ideas on how to make research and service work at their locations more sustainable. They identify projects and measures from everyday institute life, discuss them with the directors, administration, and other colleagues, and prepare them for implementation. Through their actions, they seek to further embed the concept of sustainability among the workforce, addressing the following topics.
- Energy
- Mobility
- Supplies & Waste
- Biodiversity & Food
