Prof. Fürstner received the “Werner-Heisenberg-Medal” in recognition of his long-term commitment to the Alexander-von-Humboldt Foundation. Specifically, Prof. Fürstner served for nine years on the selection committee for the “Feodor-Lynen” research fellowships (six years presiding) as well as six years on the committee for the “Alexander-von-Humboldt Professorships”. Moreover, he himself has so far hosted no less than 26 Humboldt research fellows as postdoctoral students in his laboratory.

The award honors his commitment to the non-profit foundation, which aims at promoting scientific cooperation between German and foreign researchers through scholarships and exchange programs.
